Windham Hill Newsletter
Written by: Jon Griffin
Hello and welcome to the new and improved Windham Hill Inn website! I’m Jon, one of the innkeepers. We’ve been working with Banas Web Design to get this up and running so we can communicate more easily with our guests and make it easier for people to find us online. One of the ways we want to facilitate that is this quarterly newsletter where we keep you up to date on the happenings here on Windham Hill. For the first one, we’ll update you on what’s been happening here the past few years, and give a tentative look on what’s to come.
Firstly, for those who may not know, what’s been happening at the Windham Hill Inn the last few years? In 2021, while we were shut down for the COVID-19 pandemic, a tree near the main house was struck by lighting and caught fire, quickly spreading to the building itself. While fire crews were able to put it out, there was a large amount of damage, especially to the third floor of the inn, both from the fire, as well as the water used to put it out, and subsequent weather while we worked on getting a temporary roof on. When new ownership came in to reopen things, they started with the Barn, as that was still 100% functional, and that remains where we primarily operate out of now, with it’s 8 rooms and conference room, as well as the 3- bedroom Cottage which we offer for larger groups. We’ve partnered with a local business to offer breakfast vouchers for guests, but have unfortunately not been able to reopen the main house yet with the restaurant while we work on renovations. That said, we still have a small staff here ready and excited to serve you and give you the best possible experience where you can really unwind in the peace of Vermont.
So now you know what’s happened, what’s next? We’re still working on renovations to the main building and getting things ready so the restaurant and other rooms can get back up and running. We’ve gotten power back to the main building and are working on other utilities to allow for easier construction, and thankfully the kitchen itself was not touched by the fire, meaning we have a headstart there. We’ll be updating our Instagram most regularly with information, so feel free to follow us there, or shoot us an email, or give us a call and one of our innkeepers will be happy to answer any further questions you may have. That’s all for now, we hope to see you here soon, and have a great day!
